First of all these look like chrome inside, not stainless, and they arrive with some corrosion in the metal. Second these might be a cat bowl for a kitten a few weeks old but they definitely don’t hold 8 oz. as described. These are TEENY! 8 oz. of water was overflowing at 1/2 that, and a measured 4 oz. of water was just about overflowing the dish too. They are an 1″ high, and 4.75″ wide. About the size of a small ash tray. I have no idea how these can possibly be suitable for an average sized cat, and if you tried to fill them up, the food and water would be all over the place. I’m sending them back, and writing this review to save someone else from making the same mistake.

I have 4 cats. One of them gets chin acne which the vet said was caused by plastic bowls. I ditched the plastic and thought about ceramic bowls. Every ceramic bowl I looked at was made in China or Mexico and I do NOT trust either country not to put lead in the paint or some other harmful substance. They poison people with no problem so they could really care less about pets. I purchased about 7 of these bowls in different sizes (Amazon only sells a few sizes) and have had them about a year now and every other day they get dumped in the top rack of the dishwasher to be sterilized. The rubber on the bottom is fine. They are heavy and stay put. I am very pleased with them. The blogger who complained about the size should look around another website. This manufacturer makes many sizes.

I just received this bowl in the mail a few days ago. It is even more lovely than the photo depicted, and I had not noticed the cute birds that encircled the outside of the bowl in the photo.

I guess I didn’t pay enough attention to the size, because it turns out to be much larger than what I had anticipated, but makes a nice water bowl for my kittens, and will eventually be appropriate for their dry food. It holds a full three cups, and I had anticipated it to be about half that size.

I bought 3 bowls, this one and 2 other designs, to use for my cat’s dry food and water. Well, it seems that the little princess doesn’t like seeing the images on the bottoms of the dishes. I’ve had to go back to using smaller, plain bowls for her and have put these dishes up to use for cereal or as serving bowls.

They are high quality, beautifully made and decorated, so I don’t regret buying them except that they looked so happy on the floor (to me—not the cat) and I can’t use them for the purpose I intended.

I bought this bowl for my cat. Initially I was very nervous as I had read a couple of other reviews saying that it was too big for cats, but honestly there aren’t a lot of choices on Amazon for this style of pet bowl, so I picked it up anyway.

I got it in the mail yesterday and all my worries were put to rest. Unless you have a teeny, tiny cat, this bowl is just the right size. It holds a good serving of food without threatening to overflow. It also looks very clean and streamlined, unlike my previous pottery-style bowls which tended to look very clunky and silly.

The functionality of the non-skid on the bottom is just a delight. I put it down on the linoleum and was very gratified to hear and feel it thump straight down without sliding at all. The cat ate voraciously out of it last night and it didn’t move an inch.

A great bowl at a great price. Highly recommended.

*important note: If you have linoleum, put down a mat under this bowl as it will dye the floor beneath it yellow over time.

I picked up the double-bowl and the larger single bowl at a grocery store YEARS ago – like 1996 – and I still have both pieces. They are great – simply elegant to go with your decor, heavy and thick walled for durability, and the right porportions for kitty use. They go in the dishwasher for cleaning and sanitizing and right back on the floor for breakfast/supper. One negative – if you use one of those abrasive pads, even the one for the glass, you’ll scratch the glaze up. A good 10 minute soak in hot-hot water will loosen up any stuck-on food and you can wash them right up for the next meal. They’re heavy enough that kitty can’t drag them across the floor too.

I have probably tried 5 or 6 different kinds of cat food dishes and my cats seem to leave a lot of food in the bottom of all of them, or refuse to eat the food altogether, yet if I serve the food on a plate, they eat every bit but make a big mess off the edge of the plate. Then I saw this uniquely designed dish. I bought both the water and food bowl like this to use as food dishes for my cats. According to the label, the premise behind these bowls is that they are designed to be shallow for wet food, the food doesn’t get stuck in the corners at the bottom, and the low profile doesn’t disturb the cat’s sensitive whiskers as they eat (the vet told me that many cats will refuse food in deeper bowls because it brushes their whiskers and the owner assumes they don’t like the food, when the bowl is really the problem.)

Wow! The cats eat every drop of food from these dishes with no mess. My husband laughed and said the dishes were so clean after they ate that we didn’t even need to wash them. He suggested we donate the dozens of other cat dishes we’ve tried to a shelter and buy more of these. I bought a dozen from a few different stores. They are very hard to find, and one store called the manufacturer who told us thet they just can’t make enough to keep up with the demand! The price reflected here (+) is a LOT more than I found in the pet stores, but that may be due to the supply/demand issue. I bought mine for to each, so shop around for a good price. If you’re like me and you use a water fountain, you can still buy the water dish for food if it’s all you can find in stock, as they are almost exactly the same except the water bowl is slightly deeper.

Pros: sturdy, well-made, heavy-duty rubbery plastic doesn’t scratch or ding from metal utensils; non-skid base; VERY easy to clean and dishwasher safe; stackable and require minimal storage space due to the low profile; cats love them.

Cons: price based on low availability (?); colors are not very attractive, no color selection available; they are not listed as microwave safe (and I have not tried it, so do so at your own risk).

Bottom line: These will last a long time. I highly recommend them.
