This is a great window perch. Don’t pay full price for it, but at just over it’s a good buy. Very easy assembly, no holes in the walls or sill required. Very stable. My cat loves it, massaging it with his paws sometimes. He jumps up on it from the floor, no problem. I like that it’s not sticking out into the room to far, but because it’s wide kittie has space to stretch out and lounge. I can definitely recommend it. In fact, I’m ordering a second one and just regret that I didn’t get two right away.

When we ordered two of these window perches, we were not sure if our cat would like them, but figured it was worth a try. The perches came two days after we ordered them (fast shipping!) and each took about 4 minutes to install. We didn’t ahve to cut any holes int he sill or drill anything to the wall, it was so easy.

Within minutes of the first perch’s assembly, our cat spotted it connected to the kitchen window. He didnt know if he should jump up on it or not since it was only a few feet away fomr the table and we always freak out when he goes in the table, so my fiance picked him up and placed him on the perch. he immediately started to kneed the perch and purr loudly. He tried rolling over on it, but it isn’t big enough for him to roll completely over on.

Now, almost every evening when my fiance and I come home from work, we walk in to find our kitty fast alseep on his perch. We installed the second perch in our computer room, but only allow our cat to go in there when either my fiance or I am with him because the fish tank is in there. When one of us is in the computer room working, our cat hops right on that perch and settles down for a nice long nap.

I’ve got a shelf beside my computer that I rest my arm on, and it holds books and various other office supply goodies.

My cat decided she liked napping on the shelf, knocking books off & jostling my arm whilst I was trying to move the mouse and generally making a pest of herself. So, I found this nice-looking cat perch & hung it up in the window beside my desk.

You saw this one coming, didn’t you? My cat spurns the shelf and prefers napping where she can rest on my arm – but the cat perch holds books just fine. Mission Accomplished (sorta)

So, okay, the shelf itself is nice looking, and the cats do like it if I’m not in the room providing entertainment. It holds up fatkitty with no problem. The shelf is easily big enough for fatkitty & the pad looks to be fairly comfortable.

The only gotcha I got – and the reason I’m not giving it more stars – is the manner in which it attaches to the window. It uses a strip of Velcro tape – so you’re taping to the windowsill. I’m sure it’ll pull off the finish when it comes up. (probably no problem on a vinyl window sills, etc.) Of course, in a multiple-cat household the window sills are ALREADY scratched up, so maybe it’s not a big deal. Other than the gotcha, it’s a pretty decent unit & I’d buy more if we had non-wooden window sills.

The other thing to consider is that the perch is *on* the window sill … it might interfer with your drapes, but then it shares this attribute with most of its competitors as well.

I bought this for my cat because it looked great compared to other window beds. But….First, it did not come with the screws or hardware. So I called the company. Which had two different sites! No one returned my email OR phone call. Then I went to Home Depot to get the hardware my self.notheing fit perfect but got some thumb screws to work. (they did not have the exact size I needed.) the installed it. there is a wooden lip conected to the base, that fell of after repositioning it once!!! During this I loss the recipt, so now I can’t take it back to petco!!

I got this for my mother who has rather large cats. The other ones I looked at on Amazon and in the pet stores used Velcro tape to attach the perch to the windowsill. I just don’t think that’s going to be good enough when a big cat keeps jumping up on this thing. The Velcro may hold, but the glue on the tape won’t after awhile. And then you’d have to screw it to the sill to make it permanent. I wanted one that fit in the window frame, like this one. Just be aware that if you have replacement windows (the kind where they leave your frame intact and put a new window inside of that) with a ridge that sticks up above the wooden sill, this won’t work when the window’s closed. My mom has both kinds of windows, and she quickly discovered this. It will work when it’s open, though. She likes it because she can move it around to different windows through the year, depending on where the sun is. And it is plenty long and sturdy enough for her big boys. She’s very happy with the quality, and her cats love it.

I’ve had quite a few window perches for cats; some I’ve had to return as too flimsy, badly designed, etc. Some come without instructions. Some fall off when the cat jumps on, or (worse yet) when they’re snoozing 3′ off the ground. One popular, but badly designed one, uses velcro. Skip all those; this is the best I’ve seen by far. The competing products have flimsy flexible plastic “legs” that bend alarmingly and/or deposit the cat on the floor. On this product the “legs” are angle-cut 2x4s nicely covered in carpet (they even cut a neat flap for the screw). These babies can take far, far more load than even a large cat jumping on it. The quality of materials, the sensible, solid design (it is way overbuilt and will NOT fall off or wear out), the clear instructions, and the size of this (I actually got the “extra large”; at 36 x 12.5″ it is the only cat toy we have that is bigger than our Maine Coon needs; I think two could fit on the extra large). I was a little hesitant because of the cost, but I can’t recommend it highly enough (although Amazon’s price is not the best when I last checked, although that’s certainly the most convenient way to get it). Your time is money; don’t be penny wise and pound foolish getting a cheaper one. I think I’ll get another for the other room, in fact. The speckled sand one even fits our “std apartment beige carpet and offwhite paint” color scheme perfectly.

the lazy pet deluxe window perch is great, the one thing you will need to know is it is held on by velcro strips, that lasted a day before the whole thing fell cat and all so we had to put a screw in the window perch and sill or it would be useless. cats are loving it now!

The velcro strip came off the dry, cleaned window ledge so I used three nichol size washers with nails to secure the velcro strip.

Otherwise it came as pictured and Miss Vela, my Birman feline, has meowed her approval.

This item is cheaply made–consists of a plastic frame that a sheepskin cloth is suspended over. There is no support in the middle for the platform, so the cat wobbles when he stands on it. I learned that this is what is meant by “hammock design.” The picture is Photoshopped–it shows the cat laying on what looks like a supportive platform; in reality your cat will sink into it like a hammock. It is literally a suspended, stretched cloth that your cat will feel unsafe on.

If you want to wash the sheepskin, you’d have to unscrew the legs and take the entire thing apart.

The manufacturing cost couldn’t be more than a few dollars–it is hugely overpriced. Plus, my cats wouldn’t use it because it was so flimsy. I returned it and bought one with particle board in the platform for the same price.

Comfort wise my cats prefer this one to the smaller cat perch that I purchased from Walmart. This one is more flimsy though and the Velcro has a tendency to release so kitty just might find itself on the floor sometime.

Update:

My cat’s still prefer this perch to other, but the velcro started releasing all of the time so we had put a screw into the the widow sill to hold it in place.

The velcro that comes with this product isn’t sufficient in my opinion. I happened to have some industrial strength velcro handy and used that instead and it’s been up for 9 months now without problems. My cat is about 14 pounds and he leaps onto it several times a day. It doesn’t wobble or move at all and he seems very comfortable.
